In the formative years of my life and throughout my professional journey in Southeast Asia, I immersed myself in Eastern philosophy. Upon reaching Japan, I found myself captivated by the harmonious blend of Buddhism and Shintoism. Particularly, Shintoism left an indelible mark on me, its profound connection to nature and existence resonating profoundly.
During my exploration of these spiritual realms, I discovered Reiki - an ancient Japanese healing art. To my astonishment, I discovered that even Buddha had embraced Reiki in his quest for self-healing and aiding others. Intrigued by the potential, I decided to experience Reiki firsthand, and the positive impact it had on me was transformative.
Upon returning to the U.K. I met a Reiki Master who encouraged me to embark on the journey of practising Reiki myself. Today, I proudly hold the title of a Reiki Master, finding immense joy in extending healing to those in need. My practice knows no bounds, accompanying me wherever I go, whether it's travelling to clients or welcoming them into my space, be it at home or The Practice Rooms in Bath and Bristol, U.K.
As a Reiki therapist, my career is more than just a profession—it’s a lifestyle and a commitment to living in alignment with the principles of healing, balance, and mindfulness. My journey in Reiki not only involves helping others heal but also staying grounded in my own personal growth, self-care, and connection to the energy around me. This is how I integrate the practice into my daily life.
Daily Mindfulness and Self-Care
Every day, I make it a priority to care for my own energy, knowing that I can only offer healing to others when I’m balanced myself. My morning routine is centered around mindfulness and self-care, which prepares me for the sessions I have ahead.
Commitment to Personal Growth
Being a Reiki therapist is part of my personal and spiritual growth. Reiki is not just something I do for others; it’s a lifelong journey of learning and self-discovery for me as well.
Just for today, I will not worry.
Just for today, I will not be angry.
Just for today, I will be grateful.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.
These principles remind me to stay present and aligned with positivity and compassion, both in my work and in my personal life.
Intentional Work Schedule
One of the things I love about being a Reiki therapist is the flexibility to create a work schedule that aligns with my energy and my clients’ needs. It’s important for me to manage my time in a way that allows me to stay refreshed and focused.
Setting boundaries: I make sure to maintain clear boundaries to protect my own energy. This means limiting the number of sessions I do each day and ensuring I have breaks to recharge. Creating a peaceful, energetically clean environment in my practice space is also a priority.
Connecting with clients: My sessions are more than just healing treatments—they’re an opportunity to connect deeply with my clients. I’m dedicated to building trust and offering them a safe, compassionate space to release whatever may be blocking their energy.
Connection with Nature
Nature is my sanctuary, and I find that spending time outdoors helps me stay grounded and connected to the universal life force energy that is so central to Reiki. My environment as a Reiki practitioner is essential to my practice; I stay mindful of my surroundings and make intuitive choices about where I spend my time.
Emotional Resilience and Energy Protection
Working with different people’s energy means I need to be conscious of protecting my own. Part of my daily practice is ensuring that I don’t absorb or hold onto any energy that doesn’t belong to me.
Energy cleansing: After a session, I always take time to cleanse my own energy. I might take a salt bath, or use sound healing techniques. This clears any residual energy and keeps my aura light and vibrant.
Emotional boundaries: While I feel deeply for my clients, I’ve learned the importance of maintaining emotional detachment so I can help without becoming overwhelmed. This allows me to be fully present and offer the best support without taking on their burdens.
Spiritual Integration
For me, Reiki is not just a healing method - it’s a spiritual practice. I find peace and meaning in staying connected to the universal energy and allowing it to guide both my personal and professional life.
Meditation and spiritual practice
I regularly meditate, which keeps me in tune with my intuition and strengthens my connection to the universal life force. This inner peace allows me to be fully present for my clients and offer them the best possible healing.
Inner peace: Maintaining a sense of calm and inner peace is key. When I’m balanced and centered, I’m better able to channel the healing energy my clients need.
As a Reiki therapist, my life is all about balance, self-care, and growth. Every day, I commit to living in alignment with the principles of Reiki, prioritizing my own well-being so that I can be a source of healing for others. It’s a beautiful journey of self-discovery, connection, and mindfulness, and I’m grateful to live a life that reflects these values.
